XTRACT Campaign on the Zero Emission Mine of the Future

We are excited to launch the first awareness video of the XTRACT project, introducing our vision for the Zero Emission Mine of the Future.

📌 Project summary
XTRACT introduces the concept of the Zero Emission Mine of the Future by developing innovative technologies for sustainable and low-emission mining. The project addresses the most emission-intensive parts of mining through advanced remote sensing systems that monitor hard-to-access mining sites and waste, a novel system to control ore loss and dilution reducing waste and emissions, and microinvasive technologies designed to extract valuable elements from minerals and waste in remote or small-scale locations. Additionally, in-situ bioleaching and membrane treatment enhance microbial activity to improve metal recovery, while cutting-edge phytoextraction and phytoremediation methods support remediation and metal recovery from mining waste piles and abandoned sites. These technologies are being tested in 4 case studies across Germany, Sweden, Portugal, and Greece.
