XTRACT Visits Reiche Zeche Mine

On 20th of March a team of XTRACT partners visited the TUBAF Teaching and Research mine Reiche Zeche in Germany, which hosts an in situ-bioleaching plant coupled to a membrane filtration unit. Organised by TU Bergakademie Freiberg, this trip aimed to acquaint Saxore Bergbau GmbH partners with the proposed setup for their Tellerhäuser pilot site.

During the visit, discussions encompassed pilot activities, laboratory tests, and preparations for the upcoming project meeting. The in-situ bioleaching unit at Reiche Zeche mine provided valuable insights into cutting-edge extraction methods. Partners had the opportunity to delve into the intricacies of this green technology, which holds immense promise for sustainable mining practices.

Furthermore, the partners discussed several aspects regarding the pilot activity, including ore and water samples for laboratory tests and microbial prospecting.

Stay tuned as the project continues its journey toward a greener, more efficient mining industry!
