XTRACT Team explores Lavrion’s environmental potential

The XTRACT partners recently paid a visit to the Park (LTCP) in Greece on February 22, 2024. Led by NTUA/AMDC, the visit aimed to kickstart Task 8.2, all about executing case studies, using LTCP as a key pilot site.

The team, comprising members from NTUA/AMDC, TUC, and LAMMC, delved into LTCP‘s rich history and mining activities. The site visit empowered partners to scrutinise potential areas within LTCP for upcoming phytomining and phytoremediation demonstration activities.

The primary goal was to assess alternatives, strategically collect soil and vegetation samples, and pave the way for chemical analyses and specialised laboratory tests. These efforts will provide valuable insights for optimising the approach to the upcoming case study.
