XTRACT UAV-Assisted Aeromagnetics at São Domingos Mine

At the heart of the historic São Domingos open-pit mine in Portugal, innovation took flight as the XTRACT Project conducted an early demonstration of its UAV-assisted aeromagnetics solution. This activity, which took place from 19-21 November 2024, represents a significant step forward in sustainable and precise mining exploration.

The demonstration, a collaborative effort between Acceligence Ltd. and the Universidad de Salamanca, showcased advanced technologies designed to revolutionize the way we explore ore composition and subsoil metal content.

The project utilized Acceligence’s 𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗨𝗦 𝗨𝗔𝗩, equipped with a magnetometer 🧲 and multispectral camera, to conduct detailed surveys of the terrain and subsoil, accurately detecting subtle variations in the magnetic field associated with potential mineral-rich zones and providing insight into surface composition.

Partners worked together to refine methods for efficient and sustainable exploration. Emphasis was placed on eco-friendly approaches, ensuring minimal environmental impact while maximizing innovation.

This demonstration is a testament to the XTRACT Project’s commitment to advancing mining exploration through technological excellence and collaboration. It highlights how modern tools, when paired with scientific expertise, can pave the way for more efficient, sustainable, and responsible resource discovery.
