XTRACT Partners’ Insightful Journey to Pilot Site 1

On May 30th, a collaborative team from XTRACT partners – TUBAF, Saxore, BRGM, and GEOS – conducted a site visit to the Tellerhäuser deposit in Pöhla, Germany. This significant event marks a pivotal moment in the project’s initiative to establish an innovative in-situ bioleaching plant.

The visit aimed to assess the suitability of the proposed location for the plant and to carry out extensive microbial sampling and molecular analysis for bioprospecting purposes. The team also collected water samples for chemical analysis, which are essential for designing the electrodialysis unit.

The site visit was organised by Saxore and TUBAF and included discussions with partners BRGM and GEOS, highlighting the project’s collaborative nature.

The visit yielded valuable insights into the geology and mineralogy of the site, which are instrumental in planning for the installation of the bioleaching plant.
